Model Trains - Atlas Model Railroad Company

For 57 years, Atlas Model Railroad Company has been manufacturing and selling model trains and accessories to the masses. During that time, Atlas has become a household name when it comes to the model train hobby, and their devotion to bringing quality products and service to hobbyists from all over the world continues even today.

The Atlas website is jam packed with all sorts of useful information for beginning and expert hobbyists alike. One can read through their frequently asked questions area, get detailed information on scale and gauges available, how to choose and build the perfect layout for the scale you are working with, look at other people's layouts, and get important information on electrical wiring for your train set landscape. They even offer tips on building a train set, and have a comprehensive introduction area that will get you well on your way in your new train set hobby.

The Atlas online store is out of this world. With so many products to choose from, it can be difficult to figure out where to even begin. One notable area is their selection of books and guides. There are 16 books, ranging from topics on wiring to layout blueprints to the best ways to lay down track on your model. Books and guides are priced between $1 and $22, and are a great place to start if you are just getting into the hobby.

It appears that when it comes to gauge, Atlas offers HO and N scale vehicles and accessories, since these are the most popular scale sizes for both expert and novice hobbyists.

There are 28 subcategories for HO scale train cars (not including locomotives), each of which has many different train cars. The N scale has 43 subcategories. As you can see, there are a wide range of options when it comes to freight cars, in prices that are affordable.

In locomotives, Atlas cannot be beat. 25 subcategories for HO locomotives, and for N scale there are 29 subcategories. All of the locomotives and freight cars are perfectly painted and detailed providing extremely accurate pictures of what the real train cars look like.

A railroad town would not be complete without other vehicles, and Atlas has a wide range of cars and trucks to park in your bustling city. All of the vehicles available come in either HO or N scales, to match with your choice of train cars and locomotives.
